This method mainly studies the prostate gland with its adjacent organs and tissues. A thorough assessment is given to their pathological condition. In contrast to the usual sonography of the pelvis, in this case a special echo probe is used, which is designed to examine the gland from the rectal margin. It touches the prostate directly and avoids the disruptive effects of gas. The high frequency used allows to significantly increase the sensitivity of the device to detect small deviations.
Indications:
The intra-intestinal examination method is used to find out suspicious deviations of the gland, to detect small foci, to determine the degree of enlargement, to find out the causes of male infertility and urination disorders.
It is mandatory for high prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.
Contraindications
The test is usually not recommended for men who have had rectal surgery. In such cases, the sensor is placed on the skin of the patient.
The examination is not performed in the acute period of hemorrhoids, in the case of rectal fissure, intestinal obstruction.
Readiness:
2-3 hours before the examination, you should perform a cleansing ghona.
